Visual Components 3D product family divides simulation models into two categories: components and layouts. The file extension of these simulation models is VCM that stands for Visual Components Model. The simulation models can be packaged into component packages (*.VCM) for easier deployment.
Components are the simulation models of the machines that are to be simulated. The components can be reused in different layouts. Layout are built using the existing components that are configured to work together. A layout holds everything that is open in the 3D world. You can save the layout using "File" menu's "Save" or "Save as" commands. You can merge two layouts together by opening two layouts into 3D world and saving the result.
Components can be saved by going into component selection mode and picking the target component. Then choose "Save component" or "Save component as" command in the "File" menu.
