How to change the location of My Components folder in 2009?

In version 2009 the changing of default folders (such as My Components and My Layouts) is disabled by default. However, if you wish to change the location of the folders you can use an external tool to accomplish the job. The download of the installer of the tool application is available on the following address:

    http://download.visualcomponents.net/download/installers/VisualComponents/Addons/SetupVisualComponents2009DefaultFolderChanger.msi

Note! This tool is only compatible with 2009 SP1. If you have the vanilla version of 2009, please upgrade to SP1 first.

Download the installer from the URL provided above and install the application using the default options. Close first any instances of 3D Family products. After that you can launch the application from Start Menu->Visual Components->Default Folder Changer 2009. The application shows a form in which you can input the new folder locations. Please make sure that the paths point to valid existing folders. After editing the paths press "Update" button. A message box will show if the update was successful. Once the update is done, you can close the form by using the "Close" button.
