For example, if you copy a new component into an eCat folder it does not show up in the program. The situation can be identified by looking for eCat busy indicator in the Models section of the eCat tab. Normally there is a green (idle) or a red (busy) bulb in the top-right corner of the section. If this bulb is missing, then the connection to the updating service is missing and therefore the new components and layouts won't show up automatically in the eCat.

If your 3D Family product is experiencing this condition you can still see the new components if you manually rescan the local file system from the right-click menu of the"Local File System" eCat tree node.

A possible cause for this condition is that an instance of 3DCreate (or one of the other 3DFamlily products) has not been shut down properly closing only the program window but leaving the process running. This prevents the next program instances to have a proper connection to the update service. This condition can be remedied by closing all the open 3DFamily products and by opening a task manager (right-click the Windows task bar and select Task Manager). Choose the Processes tab and look for processes starting with 3D. If there exists 3DCreate, 3DRealize or 3DVideo processes even though you do not have any of them open, the processes are in bad state and should be terminated. Terminate the processes by selecting them and clicking "End Process" -button for each of them.
